Late 19th/Early 20th Century Balinese, Indonesian courtly style, ceremonial Keris sword handle. The hilt is metal with a gilded surface and is shaped as the orge demon figure, Bhuta-Nawa-Sari. The metal's detail has been done with repousse. His right hand holds a fan and is positioned behind his head. The left hand is holding a swatch of cloth. He has large fangs and bulging eyes with a ferocious expression. Long curls flow down the back of his head and he sits atop a throne. The hilt is inlaid with multicolored cabochon glass. The handle is in good condition with slight wear on the gilding due to age and use.
